Macau gross gaming revenue for May comes in at MOP$20.2 billion (US$2.52 billion), up 29.7 percent y

Macau’s gross gaming revenue in May was MOP$20.2 billion (US$2.52 billion), a 29.7 percent increase on May 2023, and an 8.9% sequential increase from last month. This represents the highest monthly GGR since the COVID-19 pandemic started in February 2020.
The May GGR represents an average daily gaming revenue of MOP$651 million (US$81.4 million). However, gaming revenue remained 22.3% below the pre-pandemic May 2019 figure of MOP$26.0 billion (US$3.2 billion).
Macau’s gross gaming revenue for May was in line with expectations, with Seaport Research Partners earlier raising its estimate for Macau’s May gross gaming revenue (GGR) to MOP$20 billion, mainly due to a stronger-than-expected start to the Golden Week holiday in May.
Citi also raised its forecast for May’s gross gaming revenue, predicting that Macau’s gaming revenue would hit a new post-quarantine high this month.
